New York City in 1910 - David Hess's battle

In 1910 in NYC, the area around Christopher Street and Seventh Avenue was being widened by the city. Over 300 buildings were condemned and razed under Eminent Domain laws, including a 5-story apartment building called The Voorhis belonging to David Hess. Hess fought the city fiercely to save his building but lost, and by 1914, this small triangle was all that was left of his property. Thinking he’d been suitably beaten down, the city asked Hess to voluntarily donate the minuscule triangle for use as part of the public sidewalk – but Hess refused, and had this mosaic installed on July 27, 1922. Though it inevitably became part of the sidewalk anyway, anyone who walked over the triangle couldn’t help but be reminded of Hess’ battle.

Elevator buttons

One thing about being in an elevator with other people is that usually people stop talking once they are in, it is crazy... imagine 8 people not talking to each others for a few minutes with a background music of Mozart, my friends know me, we are like peas in a pot and whenever we are together in the elevator with strangers it makes me giggling, don't ask me why but I don't know the reason. Therefore I found something really cool on internet: Educational elevator buttons, really love this. I wish to have something like it, ahahha what would happen if you work in a building of 70 floors :)

I found out something that could be very useful at work, even if those stamps aren't approving anything but are made specially to disapprove, I have to admit that I found it funny and thought I could share this with you. Bern Capital of Switzerland ♥

Here is a beautiful picture of the City of Bern, night snowing time. I really love it, if I have to stay in Switzerland for the rest of my life then I would choose to live there. The structure of Bern's City center is largely medieval and has been recognised by UNESCO as a Cultural World Heritage Site. Perhaps its most famous sight is the "Zytglogge" (Bernese German for "Time Bell"), an elaborate medieval clock tower with moving puppets. It also has an impressive 15th century Cathedral, the Münster, and a 15th century town hall. Thanks to 6 kilometers of arcades, the old town boasts one of the longest covered shopping promenades in Europe. One place I love to go during Summer is the Garden of Roses (Rosengarten), from which a scenic panoramic view of the medieval town centre can be enjoyed, is a well-kept Rosary on a hill, converted into a very Romantic Park (it used to be a cemetery in 1913).

Sunflowers eggs

Good Monday to everybody, I found out something really interesting.. how can you make your Monday mornings happier, well use one of those sunflower eggs mould and if you are not able to buy one of those, then use your Christmas cookie cutter mould I tried last week and the "Star" mould shaped was so perfect. My mornings are now amazingly great.

School of Architecture & Design

Good afternoon lovelies,
I'm posting some pictures that I took a few weeks ago at the School of Architecture & Design, every Wednesdays we are doing workshops which are really interesting and very intense work for all of us. At the moment the main course is about constructions and materials, building an amazing scale model that I will have to present on March 9th, 2011. Can't wait to present it :)
